At the outset of my career as a BMW master technician, following my graduation from the BMW STEP program, I had no intentions of opening my own shop. However, as I progressed through my tenure at the dealership, I grew increasingly dissatisfied with the management practices, the treatment of technicians, and the significant disconnect between customers and technicians.
After purchasing my home, I began working on cars for some of my neighbors in my barn. Word spread quickly, and I consistently received positive feedback about the services I provided. Over the next three years, my home-based work became so busy that I found myself working 18 to 22-hour days, juggling my responsibilities at the dealership, being a father, and dedicating my nights to my barn. This relentless schedule began to take a toll on my health, as I was only managing 2 to 3 hours of sleep each night.
Faced with this situation, I had a pivotal decision to make: continue my role as a dealership technician while reducing my work at home, or leave the job I had held for over 11 years to pursue my own business. I chose to take a leap of faith and founded Maine Luxury Auto Barn. It was one of the most daunting decisions I have ever made, especially knowing I had three young children to support while venturing into an uncertain world of income and challenges, without a safety net.
That pressure fueled my determination to make Maine Luxury Auto Barn the premier auto repair shop in Southern Maine.
Maine Luxury Auto Barn began its journey in my barn for a brief period of eight months before the demand for my services necessitated a move to a larger commercial location. I found a promising space in Biddeford that required extensive updates but had a solid foundation. After three months of dedicated work, balancing my responsibilities as a parent and taking on construction tasks at night—I successfully transformed the two-bay shop into a fully operational facility. I proudly opened the new Biddeford location in February 2019. By the summer of that year, growth was evident, and I recognized the need to expand our team. I reached out to the local technical school and was fortunate to recruit their top student, Nathan Plante (affectionately known as Nate Dawg). Nate has since graduated from WyoTech as an Eagle Tech, the highest honor at the institution. He has also been training alongside me, gaining expertise in the complex electronics and drivetrains of modern BMWs. Three years after relocating, we expanded into a third bay and continued to grow. As of July 2024, we were fortunate to add Vanessa Baltazar to our team, as she become our official service advisor. This allowed me to focus on what I do best, which is diagnosing and repairing BMW’s. Vanessa previously ran her own shop with her husband and is no stranger to the automotive repair industry. In late 2024, our team collaboratively refined our client and repair processes to ensure that our automotive service experience is as seamless and efficient as possible. At Maine Luxury Auto Barn, we take immense pride in delivering the highest quality service with integrity, utilizing the best materials, parts, and tools to ensure reliable repairs. There is nothing more rewarding than receiving compliments from satisfied clients who are delighted to have discovered our shop. We are excited to continue our growth and to assist even more clients in receiving the quality auto repair service they deserve.
COMING SOON IN 2025!!!!! We have acquired the last bay in our building and are actively working on refinishing what will be a fourth bay. This bay will allow us the opportunity to facilitate an an alignment machine which making us even more of a one stop shop. We are also bringing on a second BMW master technician to help serve our amazing growing client base more quickly and effectively.
