While starting my careering as a BMW master technician, after graduating from the BMW STEP program, I had no intensions of opening my own shop. As I continued through my career at the dealership, I became less and less happy with the way the shops were run, how the technicians were treated and the extreme customer to technician disconnect. After buying my own house I started working on some neighbors cars in my barn. Word quickly spread and people always seem to be super happy with their service. Over the course of the next three years I got so busy at home that I was putting in 18-22 hour days between working at the dealership, being a dad and then working nights in my barn. I was running into a situation where it was taking a toll on my health from only getting 2 to 3 hours of sleep a night. At this point I had a major decision to make. To continue as a dealership technician while cutting back on work at home or give up the job I had held for over 11 years to start my own business. I took a leap of faith and started Maine Luxury Auto Barn. It was one of the scariest things I have ever done. Knowing I had three young kids to provide for while jumping into a world of unknown income and challenges, with no safety net. That pressure just gave me that much more motivation to make Maine Luxury Auto Barn the best auto repair shop in Southern Maine.
Maine Luxury Auto Barn was located in my barn for a short 8 months and quickly got to the point where we needed a larger commercial location. I finally found a place in Biddeford that needed a lot of updating but had good bones. After three months of working all day, taking care of my kids and playing construction worker at night, I finally had the two bay shop ready to roll. We opened in our new Biddeford location in February of 2019. By the time summer hit I was already at the point that I needed help and needed to hire my first employee. I reached out to the local tech school and was able to pick up their best student Nathan Plante (AKA Nate Dawg). Nate has since gone to WyoTech and graduated as an Eagle Tech which is the highest accomplishment at the school. He has also been training with me learning the complicate electronics and drivetrains in our modern day BMW's. Now three years after moving in we have taken over a third bay and continue to grow every month. We take pride in providing the highest quality service with integrity and having a passion for using the best materials, parts and tools to provide the best most reliable repair possible. We do not have a service writer at Maine Luxury Auto Barn because the best way to relay what's going on with your vehicle is directly from the technician. When you call or come through the door you will be dealing with either myself (Alex) or Nate. Both of us will be working on your vehicles and therefore you will have the most direct connection with your vehicles repair possible. Nothing makes us happier then hearing complements on how happy people are that they found our shop. We are excited to grow and continue to help more and more customers get the quality auto repair service they deserve.
